Valemount

Valemount, BC

For summer vacation this year, my Dad and I did another BC road trip, except we stayed in one location this time. Valemount is a growing town of 1,000 and is a fantastic base for hiking, mountain biking, and sightseeing. We stayed at the Comfort Inn for three nights and explored the town and the valley it sits on. The local marsh was beautiful during sunset and the well-maintained bike park was a hit. After spending a day around town, we headed north and explored the unique Jackman Flats on the Big Dune Trail and managed to snap some amazing macros of the local insects. However nothing could compared to the giant behemoth that is Mount Robson. We spent an hour and change creating time-lapses upon the deck of the information center. Sadly, we did not realise you had to get a day pass to walk the Kinney Lake Trail, and they were all reserved before we got a chance to pick one up. After the morning at Mount Robson, we experienced the adrenaline rush of white water rafting on the Fraser River. We topped it all off with a nice dinner at the Caribou Grill the night before heading back to the Lower Mainland.
